These are what I call 'Lotto Mentality' people. MLM calls their 'easy as pie', 'do it in your spare time' recruiting pitch, 'dumbing down the message'. It makes millions of dollars for the network marketing company owners and top salespeople, but very little (and most of the time, nothing) for the majority associates of the company. 'Dumbing down' is done by MLM companies in order to appeal to the greatest number of people possible, because the network marketing companies know most of the people attracted to MLM are not serious businesspeople, but rather folks looking to get rich quick...and easy. But this tale of easy riches that MLM tells is just that...a tale. A BOLD FACE LIE! Hence the extremely high failure rate. As the saying goes, 'If it were that easy, everybody would be doing it.' We know that most start-up businesses have a rough go. In fact, most small businesses go under for a number of reasons. Chief among them is a serious lack of financing, and a lack of knowledge and experience. But at least people who get into other businesses usually have an idea, or someone who'll honestly tell them upfront that it's not going to be an easy ride. But it's not this way in MLM. There is no other industry besides MLM in which the prospective business 'owner' is basically lied to as a matter of pratice in order to induce them to join the business. This tactic is precisely why so many people would rather go to their dentist five days a week and twice on Sunday, than have anything to do with MLM and network marketing. The very nature of the business creates an environment of lying. Let's see... 'I can either tell the truth and lose this sale, or 'I can skirt around the truth a little (lie) and get this commission.' This is the rationale of most people who are in MLM. The fact is that if MLM prospects knew the real truth about what it really took to succeed 'before' signing on with a network marketing company, many would look for another avenue to achieve the financial freedom they desire. And MLM companies know that. They know they can't afford to be totally truthful because most of their revenue comes from the stary-eyed, inexperienced dreamers who believe if they only 'get three people who get three people', their financial dreams will magically become a reality. NOT! Now there's nothing wrong with the overall concept of network marketing. And there's certainly nothing wrong with the sales profession as a whole. In fact, there's not one person who's achieved any level of financial success that hasn't done it through sales of one sort or another (inheritances and legacies excepted). You see, the business of sales and marketing is a good business. It is the way for you to achieve the wealth you desire. To reside in a free country where you and I can take advantage of the opportunity to create wealth is a blessing indeed. It's only the tactics and strategies of most MLM companies that are tasteless, which gives network marketing the terrible reputation it has today. Now I certainly can't speak for anyone else, but I know that if I'm in an industry where the vast majority of people are having no success, and I want to remain in that industry, I'm going to find out what those that are failing are doing... ...and make sure I do something totally different. I'm going to change my strategies quick, fast, and in a hurry.
